Wilks Communications Develops “Find Your Story Within Writing Contest”

In partnership with Laura Oliver, the author of The Story Within: New Insights and Inspiration for Writers, Wilks Communications has developed and is currently implementing the “Find Your Story Within Writing Contest.”

Aspiring writers, writing hobbyists or anyone looking to learn more about themselves through writing has the opportunity to enter this online writing contest. Each week a new writing prompt will be posted which focuses on a theme in Oliver’s book such as voice, setting and plot. Participants can also go to Oliver’s social media channels for tips and guidance on each week’s prompt. The weekly winners will receive a copy of Oliver’s book and various other writing guides. The grand prize winner will receive free consultation time with Oliver.

In order to implement this contest, Wilks Communications created a Story Within Facebook brand page, @storywithin Twitter handle and blog for Oliver in addition to managing the process of the contest.

Foodiacs.com Partners with Wilks Communications for Website Launch

In partnership with Savor- The Food Agency, the team at Wilks Communications has helped launch the newest online community for food enthusiasts www.foodiacs.com.

Foodiacs is tailored to people who are passionate about food and connects them with product offerings that are exclusive to the site. The site launched with Back to the Roots, a grow-it-yourself box garden of pearl oyster mushrooms. Foodiacs has exclusive product offerings, or events, booked through March 2012. The events will launch every one to two weeks on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. and will feature a variety of unique food-related products. Starting in 2012, the site will also connect “Foodiacs” with local food industry leaders for exclusive tastings, culinary tours and educational experiences.

Wilks Communications Helps Alpha Books Launch Blogger Challenge

Long-term client Alpha Books has continually heard from consumers, authors and editors how their Complete Idiot's Guide® series is superior to the much larger For Dummies series. To prove this, Alpha asked Wilks Communications to come up with a way to get published, honest reviews.

Starting in mid-April, Wilks Communications is reaching out to a host of bloggers asking them to participate in The Complete Idiot's Guide® For Dummies Challenge. Bloggers will make a head to head comparison of a The Complete Idiot's Guide® and For Dummies title of their choice. A few titles included in the challenge are:
